80 years of ARKU
Albert Reiss founded 'Blechnerei' ARKU in the Baden town of Haueneberstein (Germany) in 1928. The company mainly made sheet metal articles until the mid-Fifties.
From metalworkers to machine builders
In the mid-Sixties, the family company launched into engineering. The first parts leveling machines from ARKU were used to straighten the levers for typewriter letters.
In the Seventies, coils became part of metal processing, and the percentage of coil leveling installations in production at ARKU grew accordingly. The production of precision straightening machines in small batches was transformed into customised plant engineering.
Since the Eighties, the focus of ARKU’s production has shifted increasingly towards leveling and feed systems for coil processing. Increasingly larger installations are being built, such as coilers in excess of 30 tonnes, for example.
Established as market leader in leveling and feed technology
In the Nineties, the trend towards large installations continued, and ARKU built more and more complete systems. Today, ARKU is a market leader for levelling and feed systems in Europe, and is always open to new challenges – the coil with laser combination, for example, new production processes for tailored strips or processing high tensile materials.
